"You make lives of these girls normal."

The third year of full-scale war in Ukraine continues. Our Ukrainian sisters and brothers have already learned to live “normal” lives in abnormal circumstances. They go to work and to church, to birthday parties and to theatres under the threat of rocket attacks. They help each other and try to do everything to continue life and light despite the war and darkness.

But other circumstances still complicate the lives of vulnerable people, like the 19 girls who currently live at the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate Home of Hope in Lviv.

“Our main task is teaching love and a normal life to girls who have never had a chance to experience it, and building new foundations for those whose foundations have been destroyed by various situations, including war,” says Sister Veronika, the Home’s new director.

Several of the girls and Sister Veronika have shared their stories, which you can read, to get to know them better and learn how your love saves lives.

“We simply love them, listen, support, and create a sense of home – and this is possible precisely because of those who support our mission,” says Sister Veronika. “You save each of these girls individually, and this is a great gift.”

Your generosity through the annual campaign of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada and Lubov SSMI Foundation funds the annual operating costs of the Home of Hope. Will you again join us in reaching our goal of $30,000 to support those who lost everything or had nothing before coming to the Home?

Would you like to know how your love and support are embodied there? Your gift goes further than you may think:

For the same cost as a drink and treat from Tim Hortons, the Sisters in Lviv are cooking a hearty dinner for all the Home’s residents. A psychologist will conduct a session for the girls, teaching them to deal with panic attacks against the background of air raids, for the same price as a couple of pizzas here in Canada. And a gift of $100 provides one full day of operations at Home of Hope, including food, clothing, utility bills, medical and educational expenses, community activities, and other daily essentials.

We are grateful for your support in the past, and for any help you can give now. We hope you will read the stories Sister Veronika and the girls have shared, and see how your love provides them with hope for a good life.

With love and thanks,

Your faith and compassion makes a difference every day in the lives of people served by the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate.
